He uses images that he shoots on his travels over the world. He claims inspiration from Rene Magritte, M.C. Escher, and Roger Dean. Thomas always asks constantly about how he does the montage, he likes to think that the pictures can be appreciated without any real knowledge of their technical virtuosity.

According to the lawsuit, Thomas created an image that he titled " Rhinal Congestion" using an image by Muench called "EL Captain in winter, Yosemite National Park." Muench's image appeared in 1993 in book called National Parks of America.

Thomas prefers to work from his own dark room in the production of the photographs in black and white with the occasional sepia hue. He does no always depend on digital manipulation as the major tool in his work but opposing images arranged with a critical eye for detail and perspective while using the concept of everyday life. He calls his work 'photomixape'
